PR and Communications Executive
Location: Wyldecrest Parks – West Thurrock, Essex
Purpose of the Position:
The purpose of the role is to handle all aspects of planned publicity campaigns and PR activities. To utilise all forms of media and communication to build, maintain and manage the company’s reputation. These range from public bodies or services, to businesses and voluntary organisations.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Planning, developing and implementing PR strategies
- Studying the organisation’s objectives, promotional policies and needs to build public relations
- Communicating with colleagues and key spokespeople
- Liaising with, and answering enquiries from media, individuals and other organisations, often via telephone and email
- Researching, writing and distributing press releases to targeted media
- Collating and analysing media coverage
- Writing and editing in-house magazines, case studies, speeches, articles and annual reports
- Preparing and supervising the production of publicity brochures, handouts, direct mail leaflets, promotional videos, photographs, films and multimedia programmes
- Devising and coordinating photo opportunities
- Writing press releases and other media communication to promote clients
- Organising events including press conferences, exhibitions, open days and press tours
- Maintaining and updating information on the organisation’s website
- Managing and updating information and engaging with users on social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook
- Sourcing and managing speaking and sponsorship opportunities
- Commissioning market research
- Fostering community relations through events such as open days and through involvement in community initiatives
- Managing the PR aspect of a potential crisis situation
Education & Qualifications
- Degree in PR, Marketing, Journalism or related field
- Chartered Institute of Public Relations qualified
Experience
- Experience in PR, Communication and Media
Knowledge & Skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and writing skill
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to multitask
- Good teamwork, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Business awareness and a good knowledge of current affairs
- Ability to run PR campaigns that deliver measurable results and meet objectives
- Understanding of social media and a solid experience working with bloggers
- Project and budget management skills
